Turning my Beastly Baby into a “Happy Baby”

August 20, 2010

Once upon a time, there was a baby born to a family. She was the 4th child, and generally quite pleasant. But on the particular day we are talking about….well, she did her best to impersonate Genghis Khan. Fortunately, a knight in the form of Happy Baby, road to rescue us from her clutches her from her bad humor.

Read on for the story of the terrorizing baby, and to find out how you can win over $50 in Happy Baby products!

Jane was a beast yesterday; a cute, chubby, lovable beast. (I felt bad for Bilke. Poor gal.)

It was one of those days when napping didn’t happen.

Bottles were disdainfully thrust away and the only thing that made her happy was constant attention. And throwing toys. A lot of throwing. And yelling. There was a fair amount of yelling, if I recall.

I have days like that too.

Her diva-ness continued into the dinner hour, where she went on a protein binge. I like my babies to eat a balanced diet. It may not happen every meal, but I do have something of a daily goal on her intake (here is a great source for information on baby nutrition from Happy Baby).

Chicken? Thank you very much.
Peaches? You’d have thought I was poisoning her.
Watermelon? Gag.
Swiss chard? No way!
Bread? No.

I needed to get something else into her, wanted her to have something else filling her tummy before hitting the hay.

Fortunately, she did graciously accept my offer of Happy Baby Green Puffs.

Actually, she sort of inhaled them. Luckily, they disintegrate in her mouth in a heart beat. Considering that they are full of vitamins and minerals, organic and made with whole grains, I was able to put my little beast to bed knowing she had a well rounded meal.

What I love about ‘em:
-Easy to eat
-Less sugar than other brands AND a better value price wise
-FULL of nutrients

Something else to note; our third, Ben, had some serious allergies and while Jane hasn’t shown any signs yet, we are trying to be really conscious about introducing certain foods. I love that Happy Baby has this easy allergen chart to refer to for all their products. Having a child with food allergies can be really challenging and a safe source of packaged foods is a true life saver.

I have to add that Ben also enjoyed the puffs (literally taking food from a baby), and we have now moved him to the other side of the table.

Happy Baby was kind enough to provide me with a sample of the Puffs to review as well as one for YOU!

I have to admit, it was me who snuck the baby some unhealthy food. She is 10 months old right now and just this week I put my popsicle up to her lips. She didn’t get much of a taste, I just wanted to see how she would react to the cold!

Sure..why not. My MIL told Iz that she could have ice cream whenever she wanted…does that count?

I asked my 5 year old to “entertain” my 4 Month old while I cooked lunch today. My 5 year old asked for a slice of cheese, I gave it to her. I always give her a piece of cheese while I am making cheese sandwiches I wasn’t thinking…Yeah she yells “Mama, Kiki like cheese!” I ran into the living room to pick the tiny cheese bit out of my babies mouth.
Dumb Mom Moment!

Oh! I’ve done that before too! Except it was play doh. Ugh.

My 4th was chomping on a dill pickle spear at 8 months! Love the faces they make with new tastes!

My toddler fed cheese to her 5 month old sister a few months ago. Then it was a sample of homemade playdough the next month. She shares everything she can, lol.

Our good family friend gave our (at the time 10 mo old who hadn’t hand ANY sweets at the time) some cinnamon roll and scones. Fortunately he loves our little boy as if he were his own and quickly explained the only sweets our little guy gets are fresh fruits! 🙂

So my parents are intent on making my child love sweets as much as they do..probably why I have such an issue curbing my sweet tooth, anyway they both continue to feed her sweets when she sees them. Did I mention that she is only 13 months and this has been happening for a while. Sooo I am happy to say that she loves the Happy Baby puffs soo much that she will take those over the sweets they try to give her! Yay Lyla!!

My mother has given my daughters tons of things without me knowing. She gave my baby (18months old) ice cream to taste. only thing was my mom forgot that she can’t have milk or soy. of course that didn’t go very well.

My inlaws are chocolate milk pushers. I’m seriously thinking that they get kickbacks from some dairy company. My FIL was just chomping at the bit to give my son chocolate milk. Luckily, we had the double excuse of dairy allergy and high strung child. 🙂

My husband gave our daughter some slurpee at like 2 months. He loves letting her taste EVERYTHING! I even caught him trying to squirt whipped cream out of the can into her mouth.

My mother-in-law gave my daughter a dog toy to suck on. Does that count!!?! We are so grateful for Happy Baby. My daughter has awful reflux and we had to put rice cereal in her bottle. Happy Baby rice cereal was not only a great choice nutritionally, but it was the only fine enough to fit through the nipple of her bottle.

43 Katy August 24, 2010 at 10:52 am

My daughter crawls into the pantry finds the Happy Baby Puffs, opens them up, as they spill all over the floor she jumps in and eats them up in pure delight.
